Chess mania

I hate chess, i love chess. A disease can not be cured.

Used to play in yahoo, but now more often in shredder computer chess. It's a PC chess program maker, but you can also play it online for free, no java, no flash, no rude players.

Good ways to learn more moves, tricks and to be careful on what you are guarding. Also available in google widget as daily puzzle, they call it.

It's FlauntR baby

Another excellent web based application. FlauntR offers a slick way to edit you pictures. It works astoundingly perfect with flickr and offers you to work on an apple-like GUI applications. An interesting feature is to be able to get the right size of your profile pictures on some of Network sites. It converts for example for Friendster, Blogger, Xing and many more. However, i am surprise that Facebook isn't there. I hope soon.

Check out my new profile picture for this blog. I edited just now by using FlauntR. It takes a very minimum skill of Photoshop. I also tried to be more creative and got to the picture of me on the Baltic see below.

Not too bad for unprofessional photoshoper, right. It reminds me of Picaso painting actually, although i can't find it on google what i have in my head. Anyway, once you edited a picture the option is then to save it on FlauntR, download it to your computer or save it directly in flickr.

Check it out and enjoy the advantages. It's really fun.

Screw social network websites

Yeah screw them. Look on how many of them i am registered: Friendster, Studivz, Xing/OpenBC, Facebook, Multiply, Linkedin, Pownce, Myspace, Tagged, Twitter, Unihelp and of course last but not least Blogger. Crazy hah!

Should not complain tho, but it's so time consuming and addicting. I feel like stalker sumtime. You know getting information of others secretly. It's not healthy, you know.

Anyway, as it's well known already, one should not give out too much information about himself on the internet. After the huge breakdown in the Facebook code and privacy concern in Studivz as well as in Friendster, you really need to think twice about publishing yourself.

An interesting article in wikipedia mentioned that social network websites can be used as investigation medium and could even be used against you in court. After all who would think to get sued because of the internet. Most of them think they are innocent, aren't they.

It's all a matter of good behavior and wise decision - on my opinion.

Free templates

Why bother to create your own website, when you can get it for free? The idea to "sell" website templates went directly to trash as i saw this website. They do not only have templates for websites, but also logos and flash websites. Damn cool. Check out: www.templatesbox.com.

What is...

  1. .. the biggest flower on earth?
  2. .. the lowest & highest elevation place on earth?
  3. .. the highest waterfall in the world?
  4. .. the driest place on earth?
  5. ...

Questions most of us take it for granted, but once you're on it, it's very interesting to know. Google earth community update this for you everyday.

Cash flow blogging

Following my post with cute kittens pictures, i found out that the guy who created the website turn out to quit his job work full time on icanhascheezburger.com. He earns more ever since he created the website on January 2007, than what he got from his work. It's amazing how internet could be your life support source. Guys, be creative and don't be afraid to start it as a joke or something less meaningful. Icanhascheezburger is an example.

Text processing service from google

Very nice. I am on the stage of writing report about my internship while i am still doing it. A couple of time i wrote part of the my paper at work and at the end of the day i have to send it over to home in case i want to work more on it. The problem is if i forget to send it over like it happened a couple of time, i stuck the whole weekend without it. It's a risk, but Google Docs&Spreadsheet is my answer.

Google Docs&Spreadsheet offers possiblity to publish your work on internet or collaborate it with someone else. The text processing service has basic editing functions, but if you know html good enough the code is editable. Spelling check function is very useful. The spreadsheet has basic math functions. Practical.

Again another good example of AJAX.

Internet As An Application Software

Things like this that keep me overwhelm from the invention of website technology. It's amazing what internet offers you from day by day. Stuff like flickr, del.ic.ious, digg and of course blogs are still a very astonishing concept to me. Nowdays, based on web 2.0 philosophy and AJAX-powered social software, it's possible to have a reliable web based application products, such as:

  1. calendarhub - online calendar,
  2. basecamp - project management and team collaboration,
  3. writely - web based word processing and
  4. voo2do - advance task and priority management
would prevent users from purchasing expensive, annoying, non-opensource words product from microsoft. Honestly, you should walk through the 4 links i put above and live to see what internet has to offer.

A website that attracks my attention at a moment is scrapblog. I found it very cool. You could just drag and drop pictures to a arbitrarily position, change background and create different decorations for your picture album. Take a quick tour and get experienced. You can also view scrapblog from somebody else over here. Let me know if you guys uploaded pictures on scrabblog, maybe you will win the contest that they have now and then. Well scrapblog uses makromedia instead of AJAX, but it works perfectly fine on IE.

Headset Free VoIP

Attention! for those who are having long distance relationship here comes the good news: Jajah presents a free calling service between landlines. This works for some countries only but some big ones such as Germany, France, England, America, Australia and more. Special features about this VoIP service are no installations needed and headset free. It works through your normal telephone set. However, freecall is only possible under some circumstances (of course, who doesn't see it coming). More about it can be read here.

VoIP service has a huge market to break if and only if someone could get right. Funnily enough, no one gets it right. There's always a hassle to always be infront of the computer, installing and plugging stuffs. Too much trouble for some people. Another thing is the calling rates are not cheaper than any calling cards or from somekind cheap providers like the one from http://www.billiger-telefonieren.de. I am very exciting to see what improvement comes next from the VoIP world.

Friendster awarded patent on social networking

Yep, how nice. Congratulation Friendster.com. On this site, i've been blogging the world for the last year. Originaly it's a community website. The blog feature just existed not too long ago (considered the existency of web 2.0). The full article can be read in techcrunch.com

Live telnet ASCII WorldCup

Do you know that you can watch world cup in matrix style? Not quite like in matrix, where the characters fall from top to buttom, this one goes from rigth to left and it's in ASCII code. If you open your konsole or in windows start -> run: type "cmd" copy and paste this: "telnet diego.ascii-wm.net 2006" in the konsole and press enter (return), you can watch live game from Germany.

It's commentated as "the best, most ridiculous, most redundant graphical implementation of ASCII!"
